When we sat down to discuss R&D activity within our project portfolio, I was frankly surprised with the construction acumen the team at Inspired possessed. Their ability to identify innovative activity we had undertaken was well beyond what we had initially outlined ourselves and added substantial value to our end-benefits, and the expediency of the progress was vastly streamlined on what we had been accustomed to with previous claims.
The process of claiming R&D tax credits with Inspired Corporate Advisory was very efficient. I felt their team really understood our business which helped express our innovation in their report and to maximise our claim.
About Lagan.
The Lagans Group of companies operate across a broad range of services within the construction industry.
This is apparent through their highly specialised Aviation, Construction, Piling, Infrastructure and Fit-Out divisions. The scope of the qualifying R&D activity within the Group is therefore very diverse.

Innovation.
The broad range of projects the company has delivered on is reflected in the diversity of their innovation activities.
A sample of the work examined within their recent R&D claims includes; A first-of-its-kind aircraft arrest system with unique weight resistance properties; development of a bespoke real-time biomass facility monitoring system; and the creation of a unique piling product with increased effectiveness in water-logged conditions.

Collaboration.
Inspired worked in conjunction with the Group’s Construction Directors, Project Managers and Finance department to ensure identification of qualifying activity and costs.
Going forward the use of the Company CVR’s (Cost Value Reconciliations) system will help ensure that all relevant costs can be captured and exemplified to HMRC in future claims.
In Review.
The overall benefit to the Group of Lagan’s companies increased by approximately 50% upon their previous years claim.
This additional benefit will allow the Company to reinvest across the divisions and continue its strong uniform growth trajectory.
